Better speakers?

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I recently became interested in the venture. I love the bike after trying a couple of them! I like the radio, and I think it sounds good, but can you upgrade the speakers so you can play them loud with no distortion? Better speakers maybe?

I think the best sound is going to come from headsets in the helmet. welcome aboard.

I swapped out the Clarions for Polk Audio's DB401 marine speakers.

I think they sound much better than the stock versions, but they are limited by the quality of the main unit.

I have the Polk 401's as well. I can turn them up louder, but they will still distort.

will the Polk 401's fit the Royale (I have an '86) also?

 

how hard is it to get these installed, just bolt in, or some mods?

I agree though, a better speaker will help, but more "clean" power would help too.

 

There are some times when I just want to listen through a speaker rather than the headphones.

Check out this thread. Along with talk about speakers there is a filter. I haven't tried it myself but word is if you block the bass to these little speakers you can reduce the distortion, in this case a frequency the speakers were not made to reproduce.
