Communication Pros:

This goes out to all those folks that use a headset mostly all of the time...I have the ICM HS-G45 for a half helmet...has worked great for me for the way I need it too....I normally ONLY use them when riding in groups and need comm. for blocking...directions...etc..occasional comm during ride with buds on other bikes...My wife DOES NOT have any headset...

HOWEVER...when I use them...I have this concern...Stereo, Sound Quality, CB, Music from Radio, or Aux outlet and MP3...All OK...BUT when I push the HORN button, I get static through the earpieces....I have the IC volumn down to 0 because I have no need for IC use...Any thought or comments would be welcome....of course ONLY problem is when I use the HORN...I have the stock horn and no others attached...

Thanks in advance for your comments...

Hi George, My '90VR does the same thing. I was thinking it may be because my bike was origanally was from Miami and most electrical connections were corroded. Cleaned all I could get to but no change. Thinking now the horns are close enough in the same circuit to cause feedback. Would like to know myself. BTW, I have 2 sets of J&M's in both 3/4 helmets. Passanger has never complained, but I haven't asked either. I'm sure someone will chime in soon with an answer...

Landon: You provide a BETTER word for what is going on..."FEEDBACK" through the headset....And I am sure some of the more experienced folks will chime in with the reason we experience this...

Can't tell you why, but I don't think Yamaha can either. You really notice it when the CB is on and your playing music through the bike speakers. The horn feedback comes right at you through the speakers. Freaked me out the first time it happened. Seems to only happen with the CB on though.

Since I don't use the horn much it has not been a problem

What you will need to do is split the fairing on the front and zip tie all the intercom connections together. I think you will find this will correct your problem.

Hey George - interference from the electric horns feeds through the CB, all the Ventures do it. It may have something to do with the cheap horns that will not stay tuned. Almost all Venture owners that complain of extremely weak horns have one horn (usually the right side one) "shorted" meaning the adjustment screw on the back of the horn is too tight and not allowing the horn to "vibrate". Correcting this lowers the interference but does not get rid of it. Switch to the air horn setup and completely drop the original horns will get rid of the interference.

Been out of Wifi for a few days while in Black Hills, SD. Heading home to VA with target date Fri.

Mine does it through the speakers... I think Yamaha did this in case you ride around with the radio blasting it's the only way to tell if the stock horn is working... Get a stebel and you won't hear the static anymore... The Stebel drowns out the static..

By the way how much are you blowing the horn??? You live in NYC?

This is absolutely correct. AFAIK, the problem is only when the CB is on, and most of us really don't hit the horn all that often. Now you know it is normal, so it really shouldn't be that big a deal for you unless you use the horn every couple of minutes!

Or.........Don't use the horn! :whistling::stirthepot:Alot cheaper than the Stebel. I don't think I've ever used my horn other than to say hello as I passed my friends house.

I spent several hrs trying to solve this problem. Not really sure I did but I did figure out it was a ground problem and took apart the faring screwed around with those big white connectors for a while. Horn feedback went away for a while and then magically returned. It is annoying. I think the idea of ty wrapping the connectors might be the answer. Ill try that!

Living here in ole Virginia....Use of horn is limited...especially since most of my wife and I's rides are on the Blue Ridge Pkwy..

BUT...I do not TRUST a cager setting at an intersection I'm getting ready to enter and cross to do what they are suppose to...SO....

HORN....

Thanks guys.....I think I will go with the Stebel before spring....

I doubt that changing horns will help. I got rid of the stock horns a long time ago. I have a set of Fiamm extra loud electrics inside the fairing and a Rivco air horn set under the swing arms. We use headsets in our helmets. Mine has the feedback too. With a vengeance.

I don't know if it was the CB volume level, or just the horn set, but just yesterday I had to honk at a fool who pulled into my lane way, way too soon - as in his rear tire in line with my front. Yeow it was loud! I really didn't hear the horns for all the noise in the helmet.

Corrected the name of the electric horns
