jryan Posted September 21, 2008 #1 Posted September 21, 2008 Just got one...as far as the installation, for those of you that have one, how did you hold it down to the tank? Did you use double sided tape like the stock rubber piece uses? Since back of it is felt I'm thinking that might not hold too well. Or don't tie it down at all? Just wondering...thanks for the info...JR
M61A1MECH Posted September 21, 2008 #2 Posted September 21, 2008 I just put mine down trapped the top under the ignition cowling, I don't think I took the factory tape off the tank, the tail end attached just like the factory bib. Mine has been on for 18 months no problems. What I never have figured is , what do do with those little tabs at the very front, they have velcro like they should attach some where, but I do not see where.
Guest BluesLover Posted September 21, 2008 #3 Posted September 21, 2008 I tried to use the double sided tape to stick under the front of the tank, but they just don't want to stick, so it is just "trapped" under the cowling for the ignition switch - never had any trouble with it either. Cheers,
cecdoo Posted September 21, 2008 #4 Posted September 21, 2008 Yep what they said, no tape just fasten at top and bottom, top is alittle long but you dont really see it anyway, its a nice product, craig
jryan Posted September 26, 2008 Author #5 Posted September 26, 2008 I got the tie for my 06RSV & tried installing last night...no matter how much I stretch it, it just doesn't fit. The cutout for the filler neck seems to be cut about 3/8" too low. Even if I could get the hole to fit around the neck, the 2 mounting tabs don't line up with the tie holes (see attached pics). The vendor (CycleGiant) claims they sent the right thing and that I can return it for exchange. I'm just wondering if others have had the same issue with the Ties & the RSV and whether exchanging it will do any good at all. Thanks for the info...JR
cecdoo Posted September 26, 2008 #6 Posted September 26, 2008 I just lined it up with the gas tank fill hole, the other 2 holes are covered with the shroud, so its no biggie if they are off alittle. I removed the clip for the intercom wire. it is tight, but once you get it on its ok. Unless of course there is no way it will fit, in which case it may be defective and should be returned. Good luck, Craig
