wisorac Posted September 20, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) That is actually 41st week of 1995. It should have 4105 to be the 41st week of 2005. In the 90's they used only 3 numbers. Edited September 20, 2008 by wisorac
juggler Posted September 20, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 20, 2008 My wife sent me this video of a new report on old tires today. http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=4826897 She got it from the Brothers of the Third Wheel website. (yeah she rides a 1981 VW Trike). This is kind of scary.
5bikes Posted September 23, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 23, 2008 I've bought/got 2 bikes with old tires about 10 years old. I would be more concerned if I didn't service (proper inflation) and keep my eye on them. Deep cracks, bubbles, wearing abnormally, underinflation, overloading, over speeding, large punctures, etc. are far more important than just the age. First sign of trouble get rid of them

wisorac Posted September 24, 2008 Share #7 Posted September 24, 2008 Treeman, If your tire is really DOT 415. I would take that tire back. That is just to old to mess with.

hig4s Posted September 24, 2008 Share #10 Posted September 24, 2008 The government doesn't warn or advise people in the US, but any tire over 6 years old, no matter how long it has been on the vehicle, should be replaced.
