how old are your tires

I got a new tire. when i check it it was 3 years old ( Check your tires when you buy.

 

on the side DOT # if it got 415 on it that means 41st week of 2005 3 years old.

That is actually 41st week of 1995. It should have 4105 to be the 41st week of 2005. In the 90's they used only 3 numbers.

I've bought/got 2 bikes with old tires about 10 years old. I would be more concerned if I didn't service (proper inflation) and keep my eye on them. Deep cracks, bubbles, wearing abnormally, underinflation, overloading, over speeding, large punctures, etc. are far more important than just the age. First sign of trouble get rid of them

I just went out to the parking lot to check mine the front is 3105 installed last year and the rear I can't see yet and no room to roll it around. Will check it later.

But you pay for 2008 price$$$$$$ your tire is about 2 1/2 years old i would go back & ask him ( WHY ) not 2005 price.

 

Next tire i get put on i will check it before he does it. it better be the year 2008/ 09

If your tire is really DOT 415. I would take that tire back. That is just to old to mess with.

The rear I bought last week from Denis Kirk for $125.00 shipped is 4307. Not bad.

The government doesn't warn or advise people in the US, but any tire over 6 years old, no matter how long it has been on the vehicle, should be replaced.
