Now you say that the Harley is only a few thousand more now vs the price of the RSV but mine is paid for and Im gonna make a few changes to mine for now. Still want the Ultra but Im gonna wait a little. Very nice looking bike! Keep us posted as to whether the moving of the exhaust fixed the frying the drivers legs problem and also how it handles VS the RSV. How is the seating for you over a long drive? Is the RSV more comfy or the Ultra?

BTW my 2007 RSV is paid for as are all my toys...

Now with 6 gears you can push this bike to almost 83 mph in 6th gear and still be under 4k revs. The handling is different then the RSV and before someone thinks I have moved to the DARK SIDE and I’m bashing the RSV I’m not. I’m just giving my impression of the difference in handling between the two. The Harley at least the 09’s handles like a dream in the twisties. You don’t even have to push the bars you just lean a bit in the direction you want to go and she responds. It holds the curves with ease, not at all like the RSV. In parking lots it’s much more stable and maneuverable, the power is unbelievable. I did not notice a heat problem with the bike even at stop signs but it was a very nice day yesterday in the high 70’s with a breeze, which may change on a hot windless day at a stop sign. I didn’t feel any heat problem with the exhaust; they moved it away from the rider and passenger. You can stop the rear cylinder from firing if you want just by rolling the throttle forward. It used to be controlled via the computer, now you can do it. They can still program the computer to do it but I like the idea that I can do it whenever I want. This is really a nice ride, and if anyone ever gets a chance to ride one take it, but be prepared for a new experience. Again I’m not bashing the RSV I liked them enough to buy 3 of them. I just really like this Harley.

We all want to think we have the best. I figured the power was comperable. Like I said I will have one some day but Unfortunately that wont be tomorrow. Just gonna make a few changes to mine for now that wont break the bank and a few years down the road I will do it. For now expenses keep stacking up. Kitchen needs work. Got a wedding to plan and pay for next year, and now I find I need to install a new gas tank in the boat. If the economy was a little better I would think of it harder but the extra money is not there. Bad enough I had to pay 700 last night just for the new dishwasher and over oven microwave last night.

We could also pit the two bikes against each other in a race, but that's all about ego unless you make a living racing for bets or pink slips. My real concern would be about how the bike feels. Recently, I test rode a Victory Vision. After two and a half years of riding only the RSV, the Vision felt under-powered. I liked the fact that the engine ran more slowly and quieter than the RSV at the same speed, but there didn't seem to be much pick-up there when I twisted the throttle. This may have a lot to do with the RSV-style riding that I am used to: RSV power is at higher revs, so I am used to riding that way. But I don't think so, really. I like riding at lower revs for the relaxed feel, even on the RSV. That was a long lead-in. What does the Ultra *feel like* compared to the RSV? I don't care whether a dyno test says that one has more power or torque than the other, and I'll leave racing to someone with less controlled testosterone. I just want to enjoy a bike -- to have the ride make me smile. Will the Ultra take off when you twist the throttle? Will it rumble at low RPMs and still pull away quickly without down-shifting even with 2-up and luggage? When you shut down the throttle, will the Ultra decelerate quickly and smoothly or do you need to brake more heavily to keep the Ultra from getting away from you when a sharp curve comes up? Oh, yeah: how does your fuel efficiency compare? Don't just tell us the mpg that you are getting on the Ultra, but tell us what you got on the RSV as well. We all get widely divergent fuel economy depending on our riding conditions and riding styles, so how do the two compare for you? Thanks for sharing!

As for your riding a HD don't worry your stuck with us, Heck I drive a Wing now. And I'm still part of the family, Some do pick on me for riding a Wing but it is all in fun. I was like you wanting new upgrades on the Venture like FJ and so on. I wanted the black cherry Venture, Love that color and was all excited too But the Venture was to top heavy for my knee when two up . And the Wing's backrest fit Peg better so we went with the Wing. I might have bought a HD if it weren't for the extra $9,000 besides the HD dealer down here would not give me the time of day guess because I rode up on a First Gen Which I still have. Guess they figured I could not buy a HD since I ride a 83 Venture...I bought the dark red metallic Wing and been loving every minute of it... But I'm still watching to see if and when They come out with the New Venture... You have beautiful ride . I Love the blue color .... Buddy

I was very impressed by the way you two rode the Wing. Buddy

Prices here are... $21,500 for the standard Electraglide "classic", $24,500 for the Ultra and $25,500 for 2-tone paint. I'm looking forward to next spring when they have them on their rental fleet and I can take one out for a day. Pending that experience, I'm seriously contemplating biting the bullet and letting my banker fork out the bucks for me. Heck, the new RSV's are right around $22,000 and frankly, this new Ultra is much more appealing.

Sorry everybody I did not set out to convert anyone, it just happened ...LOL On the serious side DON'T ride one if you don't want to buy one. If your going to ride one stop by the bank first and get you pre approval because you will love it. I love the ABS, which I used on the way back. The red lights in Penn change fast from yellow to red. I was doing about 50 mph when the light went red, I had maybe 100 feet to the intersection. I applied both breaks HARD and was happy to see this bike come to a stop with no hint of a swerve . Man I have to say these breakes are some thing to behold, it even supprised R12guy on how fast this bike stopped in a straight line. Also on the way back I discoved another thing I didn't know about the radio, as soon as the sun set the radio display turned from the bright green background to a red background . Night vision....UP PERISCOPE!

Ohhh me. I'm sure I will miss the all year riding thing, but to be truthful it's nice being a days ride away from my family. I DO miss the hill country though, that's some great riding.
