Im having some issues atm, Mainly I have no clue where the pilot mix screws should be set at. They were messed with by the previous owner. I checked em today

LF 4 turns LR 7 turns

RF4.25 turn and the RR I cant check its frozen and the head is messed up the screw driver wont bite on it.

Does anyone know what the screws should be set at?

How do I remove a frozen pilot screw?

Welcome to the family, you must have been studying the rules! Nice pic! Someone will help you on the screws, my 1st genn is about 2 out from light bottom, not sure what yours should be.

Good luck,

If she idles fine,,,,,,,,don't worry ourself too much. The screws onlt ajust the idle mixture and have nothing to do with the actual running,,,,,,,,but then a nice idle is very important.

well, I did set the 3 I could to 4 turns out. the 4 th carb I cant budge. She is now popping on decel. I did replace the plugs and gapped em .08 .

But basically I need to remove that mixture screw and replace with a new one, I just have to get it out somehow

We just did WkBoards on his '99RSV at the Detroit maintenance day and turned his out 4 1/4 turns. Now I guarantee you that you need to have the carbs syncronised. I dont know if you have a Carbtune or Mercury sticks, but that will almost 99% for sure take away your popping. Once you mess with the mixture screws, your carb sync is off.

If you make an attempt to drill and extract the pilot screw, try and get some left hand drill bits and preferably take the carb off the bike. With the carb off the bike, you can safely apply some heat to the area where the screw is. This will cause the area around the screw to expand a little improving your chances of getting it out.

The left hand drill bit is handy because its already turning the correct direction while drilling (out) and some times the bit will grab while drilling pulling the screw out with it. Good luck. This is rather delicate surgery.....

I'm not sure about the gap on RSTD but on RSV they should be .035. I believe it's the same engine. Am I wrong on this?

LOL forgot I posted this here.

Update, with the carb on the bike and no heat. I used the left hand drill bit and extractor that little puppy came out whinning and screaming but out it came. I think Im set at roughly 4 turns out with a CO reading in the 3 to 4% range I followed Barons directions for setting the carbs up for the BAK thou I dont have that just those big arse pipes
