BoomerCPO Posted December 2, 2010 #26 Posted December 2, 2010 If you guys had female pygmies riding with ya yer nuts would never get lost. Boomer....who has lost a few marbles over the years ....but never his nuts.
steamer Posted December 2, 2010 #27 Posted December 2, 2010 nylon wing nuts from lowes,50 cents each.standard thread, force them on the metric stud, they will not come off,but you can still unscrew them by hand.
Semi-retired Posted June 18, 2014 #28 Posted June 18, 2014 I just took my off and left them off. Seat ain't gonna fall off with my big butt on it. Jerry Agreed! Mine hasn't fallen off, even with my SKINNY-ass butt!
ediddy Posted June 18, 2014 #29 Posted June 18, 2014 Bought a set Rick Butler makes, a few years ago. No problem with them coming off. Recently had bike at dealer and they commented on how easy it was to remove and reinstall the seat.
JDaniel Posted June 18, 2014 #30 Posted June 18, 2014 I used a set of nylon 1/4 inch wing nuts. You cross thread them so they wont back off.
speakerfritz Posted June 18, 2014 #31 Posted June 18, 2014 the shape of the seat on my 2013 venture made this a PIA to remove using either a scoket or a ratchet wrench.....and as murrphys law would have it...what ever is a PIA to remove intentionally will come loose accidentally when you do not want it to.
baylensman Posted June 18, 2014 #32 Posted June 18, 2014 I put a drop of blue loctite on the threads of the seat. Ran a wing nut on then back off and let dry. Then reinstall seat the dried loctite is just enough to prevent the wing nuts (lowes $0.44 each) from coming loose
gmarshall Posted June 19, 2014 #33 Posted June 19, 2014 Bought a multi pack of metric plastic wing nuts from Grainger for very little money. Stored the extras in the saddlebag in case I loose one. Maybe I should sell them??? This could make my first million!
M61A1MECH Posted June 19, 2014 #34 Posted June 19, 2014 if you do loose your seat retaining nuts and do not have something on the studs to keep the seat on the bike and your Venture breaks down and you have to have it towed, there is a good chance you will loose your seat some where along the way during the tow. Just Sayin
Stache Posted June 19, 2014 #35 Posted June 19, 2014 and your Venture breaks down and you have to have it towed Such BLASPHEMY!
