MikeyJ Posted September 10, 2008 #1 Posted September 10, 2008 Lowered the front end 1 inch using tech step by step instructions. (Those need to be better with photos) Now I can't add air to the front suspension because handle bars are touching the air ports. Any ideas besides removing the handlebars to add air?
Carbon_One Posted September 10, 2008 #2 Posted September 10, 2008 You should of rotated the fork tubes toward the side for better access. Now you get to undo all the front end again. Or ride it as is till winter. Oh your're in sunny California. Larry
Jerry W Posted September 10, 2008 #3 Posted September 10, 2008 Or, you could install the Baron's riser extensions. I lowered the front of my RSV and installed the extensions and that allowed me to add air to the front as well as making the riding position much more comfrotable.

Did you have to do anything about cable reach? On mine it seems kind of tight...
Maritimer Posted September 10, 2008 #5 Posted September 10, 2008 I lowered my front end, added the Baron Risers and re-routed the cables on the right from in front of the fork to between the fork. Works great now and no problems adding air.
KiteSquid Posted September 10, 2008 #6 Posted September 10, 2008 I just raised my front end by 1 inch. Stock height works GREAT for me.
MikeyJ Posted September 10, 2008 Author #7 Posted September 10, 2008 What difference does winter make... you mean like having to put the bike up for the winter? What does rotating the tubes entail? Besides undoing everything I have already done. Next time around it will be easy. I did remove the handlebars to add air. Very inaccurate pressure tool in the tool kit. Got it right to just below 10 on my regular pressure gauge. Seems to be okay, even though the manual says no more than 7 psi.
KiteSquid Posted September 10, 2008 #8 Posted September 10, 2008 Bring it back down to 7 before you blow a fork seal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On compression the pressure really jumps up!!!!
Cerviperus Posted September 10, 2008 #9 Posted September 10, 2008 Bring it back down to 7 before you blow a fork seal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On compression the pressure really jumps up!!!!+1 on that.

I did make sure the throttle cable was not attached anywhere. I did remove the tank to remove a clamp, thanks to flb who told me about that one.
