Welcome to VentureRider. What started as a simple site for riders of the Yamaha Venture, Royal Star, Royal Star Venture and the Star Venture has turned into so much more than that. Though the great Yamaha Venture motorcycles are still our primary focus, we have many members who have eventually moved on to other brands/models or who have stopped riding altogether but still remain members dud to the lifelong friendships they have made on this site.
Whether you have questions about your bike, looking for parts, or just wanting to talk motorcycles and riding, this is the place to be. Our members are friendly and welcoming to all. My name is Don, Freebird in the forums, and I started this site around 15 or so years ago. I have met many of our members at our various rallies and meets and some I only know from their posts here on the site but am proud to call them friends, brothers, sisters. I like to think of this as our club, not MY club. I try hard to implement features that the members request. It's not always possible but I do try.
This is a subscription based club. You can read messages in most cases but can't post, search, and etc. without becoming a supporting member. We do offer a free 2 month trial however so you are welcome to check us out before paying the small $12.00 per year dues. Upon expiration of your trial membership, you will lose the ability to post messages. At that time, you can click on "Store" and then "Subscriptions" if you wish to continue. We hope you like what you find here. We have few rules but the major ones are no religious debate, no political debate, and no "X" rated content, nudity, dirty jokes, etc. We are a family oriented club so please keep things PG or at least PG-13 rated.

There doesn't seem to be as many young people riding motorcycles these days. The majority of riders I see are older people and an awful lot of us are going to trikes. And it seems to me that Harley is the leader of bikes out there too. Of course these are just my crazy thoughts. 🤔

I was surprised to see that it was only 7% of Polaris' market share or income. I thought I've seen a bunch of Indians on the road. That being said, I've seen a ton of them in the dealership locally that haven't sold so that may be the reason why.
I think the Ultra Luxury motorcycles are either going to be a thing of the past, or at least not be profitable for awhile due to the economy. No one can afford these bikes, and if you can afford them, you're probably too old to buy them.
That or the Indian name is cursed!

Scary thought for those with newer Indian bikes. Seems like it’s becoming an all too familiar pattern for motorcycle brands.

i rode once a few years back on christmas day. went against my rule of no riding with salt on the road. spent 2 days trying to wash the salt out of the nooks n crannies of the bike. will never go against that rule again!

Cold weather riding is my favorite and I hope it is to ‘some’ riders out there as well. I never sweat. 😀. Please don’t get me wrong. I am not saying to anyone to go ahead a ride during the winter months. This is all about the rider’s decision to hang it up for the winter and wait for Spring or if you are like me, I ride during the winter months barring good road conditions free of snow, salt, grime and unsafe debris. I get it…some riders just don’t like cold weather and I understand that completely. However every time I see a rider all geared up and riding at 30° temps, I feel excited and I say to myself…if he is having fun, I can also have fun during the winter months. I am not responding to criticize or belittle anyone or make me look good and sound good. This is just me and I’ve enjoyed cold weather riding ever since.
So FWIW, riding in the Spring, Summer, Fall and winter always have all the inherent dangers. It is important to ask yourself, ‘Are you ready to ride or not?’ If the answer is no, please don’t ride. Follow your gut, because Spring is only a few months away after all. With that said and if you have watched ‘Games of Thrones’, it is inevitable that WINTER IS COMING!
I agree with you for the most part. I used to ride in the winter a lot. Have ridden in snow and single digit temps. I guess I’ve gotten old. That is part of it. The other part though is that often the roads around here get heavilly salted once the weather starts turning bad. I just hate seeing my bike covered in salt.
